KABUL (Pajhwok): The telecommunications and information technology (IT) minister has been suspended as part of investigation into a levy on mobile telephone services.
The minister, Abdul Razaq Wahidi, is being investigated after corruption allegations surrounding the 10 percent tax and hiring employees in the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MCIT) without following legal process.
According to a warrant letter from the president’s office, a delegation has been appointed to investigate performance of the Afghan Telecom and Salaam state-own telephone operators under Abdul Razaq Wahidi as minister.
