31 rebels eliminated, scores hurt in Zabul airstrike

QALAT (Pajhwok): Thirty-one Taliban and Alqaeda militants have been killed and 19 others wounded in airstrike in southern Zabul province, an official said on Tuesday.

Governor Spokesman Gul Islam Seyal told Pajhwok Afghan News the raid was conducted Monday night on the outskirts of Khak-i-Afghan district following a tip-off from intelligence agencies regarding the presence of hardcore terrorists.

The airstrikes was part of the ongoing Shafaq-2 winter offensive underway in the province, he added.

Earlier, local official 21 Daesh rebels had been killed and wounded during operation in Zabul.

It is pertinent to mention that Daesh, Alqaeda, Taliban and militants from other groups have been satteled in the Khak-i-Afghan, Arghandab and other districts of Zabul.

Militants have not commented about overnight airstrike.
