PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): The newly-appointed governor for northern Baghlan province on Monday confirmed widespread corruption in local government departments and vowed to decisively act against corrupt individuals.
Abdul Hai Niamati, who was recently recommended by the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) and approved by the president as Baghlan governor replaces Abdul Sattar Bariz.
However, his appointment drew strong serious reaction from Baghlan people including civil society activists who said the new governor was old and unable to organize the province.
