GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Residents allege Taliban have imposed taxes on some shops, worrying the vendors of southern Ghazni province. The insurgents confirm the claim.
Bismillah, hailing from Ali Kala area on the outskirts of Ghazni City, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban had imposed 5,000 to 10,000 Pakistani rupees in annual tax on shopkeepers.
“The Taliban come here to collect money from shopkeepers. If anyone refuses to pay, the militants beat him,” he said, asking for a cut in the tax rate for shops.
