PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Six people have been killed and eight others, including three security personnel, injured in an explosion in North Waziristan Agency near the Afghanistan border.
Tuesday’s explosion was triggered by a remote-controlled device in the Khadi area of Mir Ali, local officials said, adding all the dead were civilians
Militants were blamed for parking an explosive-laden motorbike, apparently to target a convoy of security forces. The blast occurred when the convoy was passing through the area
The injured were evacuated to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Miranshah. A heavy contingent of security personnel reached the site soon after the incident, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Last week, at least five people, including the head of a peace committee, were killed and two others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in South Waziristan Agency.
