MPs accuse unity govt, HIA of fueling ethnic tension

KABUL Afghanistan (HIA) for what they alleged fueling ethnic strife, have said they would soon announce a new national political alliance.

The Wolesi Jirga members, including first deputy speaker Humayun Humayun, told a gathering of hundreds of people from southeastern provinces in Kabul, that the unity government was creating differences among the Afghans on ethnic lines.

Humayun said the so called unity government remained in the hands of a few individuals and the people of Loya Paktia encompassing Khost, Paktia and Paktika had been ignored.

Other members of the lower house who spoke on the occasion were Mohammad Lali Hamidi, Zahir Qadeer and Mahmood Khan Sulimankhel.

“Our politics is inclusive, national and we want a unified Afghanistan,” Humayan told the gathering. He told the residents of southeastern Khost province. “No one can buy me.”

The first deputy speaker said they were aware of the plot to disintegrate Afghanistan. “It saddens the government when I meet Ustad Atta Mohammad Noor, Kandahar police chief Abdul Raziq or General Dostum, but there is no problem if (President) Ashraf Ghani chooses Dostum as his running mate.”

Humayaun said Pashtu and Dari were his national languages and no country from Russia, Iran, Pakistan, India and the United States would be allowed to interfere in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.

Wolesi Jirga member from eastern Nangarhar province Haji Zahir Qadeer criticized the government-initiated peace process, saying it had become a business.

“No one wants peace, it is a business only. Whoever the government liked, it brought them into its fold..why? because of their notorious past, they were famous for tribal discrimination,” Qadeer said of the HIA leadership.

The lawmaker said: “Our team has decided to announce a very huge national alliance on Afghanistan level in near future, all affairs in this regard have been almost complete.”

He did not explain their team but said they would field candidates in all elections ---parliamentary, district councils and presidential.

Lali Hamidzai from southern Kandahar province told the gathering that the aim of their grouping was work for national unity, peace, security and transparent elections.
