QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): The Taliban have kidnapped five passengers from Qala-i-Naw, the capital of northwestern Badghis province, an official said on Friday.
Deputy Police Chief Col. Ghulam Sarwar Haidari told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban stopped a passenger vehicle on its way from Herat to Badghis in Qala-i-Naw’s Laman area on Thursday evening and held five passengers.
All the kidnapped passengers were civilians and currently in the Taliban captivity in Bandyakhak locality. Security forces launched effort to rescue them.
Abdul Rauf, the resident of Laman locality confirmed the abduction of five people by the Taliban and added the kidnapped individuals associated with business and the Taliban might kidnapped them for ransom.
The Taliban have not spoken about the incident.
