PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Three bodyguards of Qudratullah Zaki, a lawmaker from Takhar province, were injured during the Taliban armed attack on his convoy in northern Baghlan province on Monday afternoon.

Mohammad Farid, the brother of Zaki and deputy governor of Takhar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened at around 4:00pm in the Chaharshanbai locality of Baghlan-i-Markazi district.

He said the injured security personnel were being provided treatment at Taloqan Civil Hospital and they were in stable health condition.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid twitted the attack was carried out by the Taliban in which three bodyguards of Zaki were killed and the lawmaker got seriously injured.

The Markazi Baghlan district is an insecure area where most of the time the Taliban and security forces clash.
