KABUL have gone up by more than 21 percent in terms of tonnage and 13.57 percent in year-on-year value, a media report said on Monday.

The neighbouring country exported 5.91 million tonnes of commodities worth $2.79 billion to Afghanistan last year, the Financial Times reported.

Pharmaceuticals, low-density oil, related products, hydrocarbons and apples were the main items imported by Afghanistan, Iran’s customs administration said.

“Afghanistan exported 24,518 tonnes of goods worth $20.39 million to Iran during the period, down by 6.81% and 5.75% in tonnage and value respectively.”

Battery waste, vegetable seeds and sesame seeds were the principal exports from landlocked Afghanistan to Iran, the report said.
