Samangan flood damages homes, canals, roads

AIBAK (Pajhwok): Heavy flood in the Khuram Sarbagh and Hazrat Sultan districts of northern Samangan province have damaged 20 homes, roads, canals and corps on tens of acres of land, an official said on Monday.

District Chief Ebadullah Mujahid told Pajhwok Afghan News the flood has partially damaged homes in the Ghazi Murad village. The flood erupted on Sunday.

Mujahid added the flood has filled tens kilometres of canal from sands, damaged some parts of the road and destroyed standing crops on tens of acres.

Rajab Ali Yousufi, head of the Natural Disaster Management Authority for Samangan, said the Sunday flood inflicted damage to 15 homes in the Zwandon valley of. In addition, standing crops, canals and roads also danged in the flood.

He said a team had been tasked to survey the losses and provide aid to the affected families.
