Hakimi announces standing down as finance minister

KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Finance Eklil Hakimi on Tuesday resigned portfolio, pledging cooperation with the government.

Hakimi made the announcement at a press conference, saying he wanted to deal with family affairs and resigned as minister of finance.

He thanked President Ashraf Ghani for approving his resignation. Hakimi urged ministry staff to cooperate with his successor.

A former diplomat, he was appointed as minister of finance in February 2015.
