US foreign secretary arrives in Kabul on unannounced visit

KABUL (Pajhwok): US Foreign Secretary Mike Pompeo has arrived in capital Kabul on an unannounced visit on Monday, reliable government sources said.

During the tripe the US foreign secretary will hold talks with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and address a joint press conference, according to the source.

This is Pompeo's first visit as foreign secretary to Afghanistnan and happened at time when government recently accelerated efforts for talks with the Taliban.
