JALALABAD/QALAT (Pajhwok): Three children have been killed and another two wounded during two separate incidents in Nangarhar and Zabul provinces, officials said Thursday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News a gas cylinders shop caught fire in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital, shortly after 7am Thursday morning.
The fire caused some cylinders to explode, killing a children and injuring two other persons. Attaullah blamed the fire eruption on the shopkeeper’s negligence.
He said firefighters reached the area on time, but it had already caused causalities.
Elsewhere in Zabul province, two children were killed and another two children sustained wounds after a Taliban-fired mortar shell hit their home in Shajoy district late on Wednesday night, the governors’ spokesman said.
Gul Islam Seal told Pajhwok that a woman was wounded in the incident and that all the victims belonged to the same family.
The Taliban have so far said nothing in this regard].
