Abdullah hails UK’s decision to send more troops to Afghanistan

KABUL, a statement from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO’s) media office said on Saturday.

During a meeting with UK’s Secretary of Defence Gavin Williamson the CEO termed UK an important and strategic ally of Afghanistan, the statement said.

Both sides discussed bilateral relations, political and security developments and the peace process.

They also talked about the ways to fight against terrorism and supporting the Afghan security forces.

Abdullah hailed UK’s support to the Afghan government in different area under the NATO Resolute Support (RS) mission.

Williamson said: “I came to Afghanistan to assess the situation along with Afghan authorities and to hold discussion on wide range of issues in Afghanistan.”

The UK’s defence secretary highly appreciated the Afghan security forces’ development and promised his country is readiness to assist Afghan government in term of building its security forces’ capacity.

Both agreed to increase pressure on Pakistan for its sincere role in the eradication of terrorism and stability in Afghanistan.
