QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): At least nine Afghan Local Police (ALP) members have joined Taliban’s ranks in the Aab Garmi district of northwestern Badghis province, an official said on Wednesday.
Saleh Mohammad Bek, the district’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the nine ALP personnel manning a check-post defected to Taliban along with their weapons in Khaliqabad area late on Tuesday night.
Khaliqabad is located three kilometers from the district centre. The Taliban have not yet commented on the development.
