Balkh director of justice survives gun attack

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A top judicial official survived a gun attack but two of his bodyguards were injured in northern Balkh province on Wednesday.

Two armed motorcyclists attacked Balkh Justice Director Syed Mohammad Jafar Misbah in limits of the 9^th police district in Mazar-i-Sharif City -- the provincial capital.

Misbah told Pajhwok Afghan News he came under attack on way to office. The director was slightly wounded but guards are said to be in critical condition.

Police spokesman Sher Jan Durrani confirmed the incident, saying the attackers managed to flee. Police have launched a search for them. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
