PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): FIFA on has provisionally suspended Afghanistan’s team.
The 90 days suspension was announced by FIFA’s independent ethics committee in a statement, which indicated the ban could be extended pending proceedings on the merits of the case.
Karim is barred from all football-related activities at both national and international levels, according to the FIFA statement.
Senior figures associated with the women’s team say the abuse had taken place in Afghanistan, including at the AFF headquarters, and at a training camp in Jordan in February.
Without specifying details of the charge, the statement said: "The sanction has been imposed in connection with ongoing investigations concerning AFF officials, as reported by local authorities and published by some media."
President Ashraf Ghani has also ordered an investigation against the federation officials involved in the alleged molestation of the women's team players
Attorney General Farid Hamidi has suspended six members of the federation, including Karim, after reviewing allegations of sexual and physical abuse of the women’s team by AFF staff.
