2 former spymasters given important security portfolios

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani’s office on Sunday announced assigning two former spymasters important security portfolios.

Ghani appointed ex-National Directorate of Security head Asadullah Khalid as acting minister of defence, according to a statement from the Presidential Palace.

The appointment had been ordered under Article 13 of the constitution.

Another former intelligence chief, Amarullah Saleh, has been named as new acting minister of interior.
