In a statement, the embassy expressed strong exception to what it called “irresponsible statement of Khan Jan Alokozai, first vice president of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Alokozai, also co-President of the Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, had said goods worth US$1.5 billion were smuggled from Pakistan through crossing points in eastern Kunar and southeastern Helmand provinces.
“This statement is purely speculative and the embassy hopes that Mr. Alokozai would refrain from making irresponsible statement . . .
