The event is scheduled for May 28 in Moscow, the capital of Russia.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told Pajhwok Afghan News that they had also been invited by the Russian government to attend the ceremony.
However, he said the movement was yet to decide whether to attend the event or not.
