KABUL representatives are set to begin decisive talks in Qatar today (Saturday), an official said.
Khalilzad tweeted: “Just got to Doha to resume talks with the Taliban. We are pursuing a peace agreement, not a withdrawal agreement; a peace agreement that enables withdrawal.”
The diplomat wrote that their presence in Afghanistan was conditions-based, and any withdrawal would depend on the ground situation.
“The Taliban are signaling they would like to conclude an agreement. We are ready for a good agreement,” Khalilzad added.
