SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Local officials on Thursday said militant checkpoints have been removed on the Shiberghan-Mazar-i-Sharif highway during a clearing operation.
The route was under Taliban’s control since last one month and the insurgents had installed their own checkpoints on several parts of the highway.
Maj. Abdul Wahid Wejdan, provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Shiberghan-Mazar-i-Sharif highway was cleared of militants during a four-day operation and the rebels were pushed four kilometers away from the route.
