KABUL of an irrigation canal has been underway in Herat province.
A statement from MoWE received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that contracts for installation of the four gauging stations on Badghis River and reconstruction of an irrigation canal were signed on Sunday between Mohammad Gul Khulami, acting water and energy minister, and companies implementing the projects.
It said the stations would be installed to prevent water wastage. These stations would cost five million afghanis and would be installed in a period of one year by Halim Hameed Construction Company.
Mohammad Gul Khulami, during the contract signing ceremony, said that installation of gauging stations was important considering the increase in water level of the river.
