KABUL Cup qualifying round match in the capital of Tajikistan today (Thursday).
Afghanistan, 149th in FIFA rankings, are placed third in Group E, with one victory and two losses, Sportstar reported.
On the other hand, India is fourth in the group table with two points from three matches. Not assured even of a third-round slot, India will have to win the encounter in Dushanbe.
Ahead of the match, Afghanistan’s head coach was quoted as saying: “Tomorrow will be a good match.”
Anoush Dastagir, expecting a close fight, said: “You can’t say for sure which team will win the match.”
By the same token, Indian coach Igor Stimac also predicted a keen contest. “Afghanistan has chosen the venue to make others’ lives difficult and we have an uphill task…”
Dushanbe is Afghanistan’s home venue, where the match will be played on an artificial turf and in freezing temperatures.
