KABUL (Pajhwok): The primary court of the Serious Crimes Judicial Centre acquits former Khost Governor Hukam Khan Habibi but convicted incumbent Khost City Mayor and three other officials of the Municipality in the funds embezzlement case on Monday.

Judge Sher Aqa Munib after an an open court hearing announced the verdict and said that the court acquitted form Khost Governor Hukam Khan Habibi in allegations leveled against him.

The judge, however, said Khost Municipality Employees Esmatullah sentenced to 12 year in jail, Mohammad Alef 14 years and six months and Faridullah five years and six months over the embezzlement charges of Municipality funds.

The court awarded 11 months jail term to incumbent Khost City Mayor Abdul Sabour.

Allegations of the miss use of authority and 70,000 afghanis funds from Khost Municipality by the former Governor Hukam Khan could not be proved thus he was acquitted, according to the verdict.
