KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Thursday said 18 criminals have been arrested in capital Kabul during past 24 hours.

A MoI statement received by Pajhwok Afghan News said police detained 18 people during patrols in Kabul city. The suspects carried illegal weapons and were involved in robberies, disrupting public order and other crimes.

The ministry that the alleged criminals were arrested from second, third, seventh, eighth, ninth, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th police districts of Kabul.

Four pistols, two vehicles and eight bayonets were also seized from the detainees, the statement added.

On the other hand, MoI spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said the operation against criminals was being conducted based on a plan.

Before launching the operation, police prepared a detailed list of criminals who have been active in Kabul, he said, adding the hunt would continue until needed.

“Police will not hesitate from any efforts for safety and security of the public,” Rahimi concluded.

The operation against criminals is being waged after several people were killed or injured in armed robbery incidents in Kabul.
