ASADABAD (Pajhwok): A 16-member Daesh group, including a notorious commander, has surrendered to the government in eastern Kunar province.
Police chief Shafiqullah Sahar told Pajhwok Afghan News that the group, led by Abdul Bashir, had been active in Manogi district.
The rebel group also surrendered 15 weapons and three rockets to the authorities. Abdul Bashir said they had been active in Wadi Gram, Recham and Nora areas.
Governor Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal claimed Daesh had been suppressed in Kunar. But some of the rebels still existed in Shorak area and Sawakai district.
