KABUL Breshna Shirkat (DABS) has released a list of electricity bills defaulters who include high ranking former and incumbent government officials and businessmen with a seven-day ultimatum.
The list includes names of 25 big defaulters from Balkh, Nangarhar, Kabul, Herat and Kandahar provinces. These people owe 43 million afghanis to the power utility.
It is worth mentioning that most individuals in the list are businessmen and renowned personalities such as former Wolesi Jirga member Baidar Zazai and Haji Padsha Khan, a former Provincial Council member of Nangarhar.
Big defaulters
According to the list, Syed Mohsin, the owner of Sadaat Cola Factory in Balkh, owes four million afs in unpaid electricity bills, Maula Mohammad Malik, owner of Setara-i-Shar Hotel, owes around 3.9 million afghanis to DABS.
Small defaulters
Abdul Hameed, an illegal armed men commander in Balkh, has to pay 299 million afhganis, Agha Jan, member of the Nangarhar Provincial Council, has to pay 504,000 afghanis, Sultan Aziz, owner of the Ice making factory in Nangarhar and Haji Niamatullah, a local elder in Nangarhar, default on power bills amounting to 700,000 afghanis.
DABS has given the defaulters a seven-day ultimatum to pay their outstanding bills, otherwise they would be referred to the judiciary.
