KABUL (Pajhwok): All government and private educational institutes would remain closed until April 18 to prevent the spread of coronavirus, an official said on Saturday.
Sediq Sidiqi, spokesman for President Ashraf Ghani, wrote on social media account that all public and private educational facilities have been closed until April 18
He said the decision to close down the education institutes was based on the suggestion of the ministries of education, higher education and information and culture and approval of President Ghani.
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says three more positive cases of coronavirus have been registered in Afghanistan, taking the tally to 10.
MoPH spokesman Wahid Malyar told Pajhwok Afghan News the three new cases had surfaced in Balkh, Kapisa and Samangan provinces.
Events celebrating Nawroz (New Year) festival have been cancelled in northern Balkh province in compliance with a presidential decree.
Deputy governor Mohammad Bashir Tawhidi told Pajhwok Afghan News to prevent the spread of coronavirus, Nawroz celebrations were completely cancelled today.
