KABUL (Pajhwok): A meeting at the Government Media Information Centre (GMIC) on Thursday approved ‘Public awareness operational plan’ to deal with coronavirus.
Waheed Omar, head of the Presidential Palace Strategic Committee and Coordination Committee on Coronavirus Prevention, said the plan had been approved by the Secretariat of the Public Awareness Committee.
He said nine working teams had been formed and would be actively working at the GMIC.
He said the Public Awareness Committee on Coronavirus was formed at the directives of President Ashraf Ghani last Sunday.
He said head of the National Radio Television, the health ministers and IDLG secretaries have membership of this committee.
He made it clear that the Nowruz Festival will not take place this year in Mazar-i-Sharif, Kart-i-Sakhi and other areas.
He asked people to celebrate Nowruz at homes and avoid going to public gatherings.
Omar also asked the Taliban not to halt public awareness campaign over coronavirus fears and allow every citizen to get awareness.
