HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Local health officials on Thursday said a woman with signs of coronavirus died in the capital of western Herat province.
Dr. Arif Jalali, head of Herat Zonal Hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the 50 years old woman lost her life in Shaidayee COVID-19 Hospital in Herat city on Wednesday night.
“This woman had respiratory and kidney problems which are signs of coronavirus, she died last night,” he said.
Earlier, a woman in Herat and a man in Balkh province had died of coronavirus.
A total of 89 cases of coronavirus with 57 of them in western Herat province have so far detected in Afghanistan.
The deadly virus surfaced three months ago in China’s Wuhan city and spread to nearly 200 countries around the world.
More than 21,000 individuals have lost their lives to COVID-19, with the number of infected people increasing to 500,000 across the world.
The coronavirus has affected nearly 200 countries and territories around the world so far.
