Unpaid Samangan doctors, paramedics go on strike

<p>AIBAK (Pajhwok): Doctors and paramedical staff of 16 hospitals on Wednesday went on strike in northern Samangan province against what they said non-payment of salary since last six months.</p>

<p>The doctors and workers of the 16 clinics gathered in front of the provincial Public <a href="/en/health" class="glossify-link">Health</a> Department and claimed they were unpaid for last six months.</p>

<p>Dr. Sayed Ahmad Sami, Rui Duwab district clinic head, told Pajhwok Afghan News that doctors and employees of 16 healthcare facilities were striking to protest the non-payment of their last six months’ salary from the Health Development Organization for <a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a> (AHED).</p>

<p>He said they had several times shared the issue with AHIED, but they did not pay attention.</p>

<p>He said as Eidul Fitr was arriving, all doctors and workers hospital needed cash to buy food and non-food items for their families.</p>

<p>He said they were honestly doing their job but without salary, they would not be able to continue serving people.</p>

<p>Haji Ahmad, head of the AHED, told Pajhwok he had also not received his salary for the last six months. He warned the strike would until the officials were paid their salary.</p>

<p>Dr. Abdul Khalil Musadiq, Public Health Director, said he had shared the doctors and workers’ salary payment issue with authorities concerned. He assured the protesting doctors and employees that their salaried would be paid soon.</p>
