KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Development private company officials say they will soon start coal extraction in northern Takhar province as per directives of the president.

The national development firm, which was recently established under the directives of the president, was also responsible for the renovation of the historic Darul-Aman Palace in Kabul.

Mustafa Naveed, media advisor of the firm, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Bazghor coalmine in Chal district of Takhar could not be extracted for several years due to various reasons.

He expressed hope that extraction work at the coalmine would commence in the next three months.

He said construction of a road connecting the mine, digging the first cave to extract, building an office complex were among works that the company should work on before digging the 10 million-ton mine.

According to Naveed, the extraction of coalmine will create direct and indirect job opportunities for more than one 1,000 people.
