KABUL Independent Human Right Commission (AIHRC) says efforts are underway to secure the release of the last Afghan prisoner from Guantanamo Bay.
Asadullah Haroon, who was detained 12 years ago in eastern Nangarhar province and taken to the Guantanamo Bay prison, is currently the only Afghan in the notorious US detention centre in Cuba.
Haroon’s family is living in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in abject poverty.
