SHARANA (Pajhwok): Twenty-four armed Taliban insurgents have been killed during a clash with security forces in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Tuesday.
A dozen more militants were injured in the clash that left two security men dead and four injured in Omna district late on Monday night, Paktika police chief Col Nisar Ahmad Abdul Rahimzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the attack was repulsed and some weapons and ammunition seized by security forces following the clash.
But Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid disputed the insurgent death toll, confirming the killing of only four fighters in the gun-battle.
He said another four rebels were injured in the clash that left five government soldiers dead and three others wounded. One tank of the security forces was also destroyed.
