KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar will head a high-level delegation to Iran next week, a media report said on Tuesday.
Atmar and the team accompanying him would Iranian officials on recent deaths of Afghan migrants in the neighbouring country, Mehr News Agency reported.
President Ashraf Ghani recently directed Atmar to probe through diplomatic channels an arson attack on a vehicle carrying Afghan citizens in Iran’s Yazd province.
On June 3, at least three Afghans were killed and four others, who had illegally entered Iran, wounded in the car fire — an incident that sparked protests in Afghanistan.
Dozens of Afghans, seeking to sneak into Iran from Herat province, were reportedly beaten and some of them forced into Harirud River by Iranian border forces in May.
