<p>HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A senior customs official escaped unharmed in a roadside bombing that killed there security guards in western Herat province on Sunday.</p>
<p>The blast aimed at the Customs Department head also left three security guards and a civilian injured, said Islam Qala Commissar Mehrullah Baloch told Pajhwok Afghan News .</p>
<p>He said the blast happened at around 11:00am when Custom Department Head HamdullahHamdard was on his way to Islam Qala Township from Herat City.</p>
<p>The blast targeted security personnel vehicle escorting Hamdard at the entrance gate to Islam Qala Township. He said Hamdard survived the attack while three security personnel were killed.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Hamdard blamed the <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a> for the incident and said after the blast bullets were fired on his vehicle and at another Humvee vehicle that was accompanying him.</p>
