KABUL’s Resolute Support (RS) Mission commander Gen. Scott Miller has discussed advancement of the Afghan peace process with allies.
The RS mission tweeted: “Serious discussions today between Gen. Miller and NATO allies on advancing the Afghan peace process. All nations reiterated strong commitment to support Afghan security forces and agree violence is unacceptably high.”
At the meeting, the statement added, Gen. Miller reassured allies that protecting NATO troops in Afghanistan from Covid-19 was a top priority.
Also on Friday, NATO Senior Civilian Representative (SCR) Stefano Pontecorvo renewed the alliance commitment to Afghanistan and its security forces.
He tweeted: “In Brussels today, we discussed NATO’s continued commitment to Afghanistan and how we can best support Afghan security forces to fight international terrorism, helping to advance the Afghan peace process.”
He said NATO allies reiterated their firm commitment to Afghanistan and the Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDF).
