Police officer killed in Jalalabad gun attack

 

JALALABAD CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen on Thursday shot dead a police district chief in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in limits of 5th police district today afternoon.

He said unknown armed men opened fire at Nizamuddin Miakhel, the first district police chief, and killed him.

He said the attackers managed to flee the area, but police had launched their investigation.

Separately, two civilians and a security officer were killed in a landmine explosion in Jalalabad City this morning.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for both the incidents.
