KABUL (Pajhwok): Thirty-six new Covid-19 cases have been registered in different part of the country during the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 36,782.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said in a statement that 187 individuals underwent tests during the period and 36 of them were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Herat recorded 21 new cases while Kabul saw 15 more infections. At least five fresh cases were registered in Balkh, the ministry said.

Neither any death occurred nor any recovery from the pandemic reported during the period, according to the MoPH statement.

But Rafiq Sherzad, spokesman for the Public Health Department in Herat, said four individuals died from the coronavirus over the past 24 hours.

According to MoPH, the number of deaths stands at 1,288. As many as 25,556 people have recovered from the disease so far.

The ministry called on the people to follow medical instructions and guidelines to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
