KUNDUZ (Pajhwok): The governor of northern Kunduz province on Thursday came hard on security organs, saying security situation worsened in the province due to their negligence.
Governor Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal, who met a number of elders, said the security situation in Kunduz turned bad because security organs were yet to awake from deep slumber.
“It is high time for the security forces to wake up and move,” the governor said, who explained it did not mean a soldier who got killed had committed negligence in duty.
Mirzakwal urged the people of Kunduz to increase their cooperation with security forces in order to see improvement in the situation fast.
However, a civil society activist, Shahbaz Sabari, said the governor should act practically instead of making such assertions.
Security officials refused to comment about the governor’s statement. Mirzakwal took charge as the governor of Kunduz about three weeks ago.
