KABUL Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad has extended congratulations to Afghans on their 101st Independent Day.
The diplomat tweeted: “Happy Independence Day to all Afghans. Today marks 101 years since Afghanistan re-claimed its independence. It is a day in which Afghans take pride and one that is rightly remembered and celebrated.””
He wrote this year’s celebration took place as efforts to end the 40-year war were, despite serious challenges, at a hopeful stage.
