TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Fifteen members of an uprising group have been killed and four others wounded in a Taliban attack in northeastern Takhar province, an official said on Thursday.
Malak Ahmad Tatar, the uprising forces’ commander in the Khwaja Bahauddin district of the province, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents stormed their check-posts late on Wednesday night.
He said 15 uprising members were killed and another four wounded in the overnight firefight, which was also verified by police spokesman Maj. Khalil Asir.
However, Asir put the number of fatalities resulting from the clash at 13. He said the Taliban also suffered causalities in the attack. But he did not give the exact figure.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the attack.
