AIBAK (Pajhwok): Construction work on a Covid-19 pandemic hospital was launched in northern Samangan province on Thursday.
The hospital — a $ 700,000 project — is being constructed north of Aibak, the provincial capital.
Public Health Director Dr. Abdul Khalil Mustiq told the foundation-stone laying ceremony that the hospital was being constructed on 4.5 acres of land with financial support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
He added the hospital would have 50 beds and its construction would cost $700,000 to be paid by ADB.
According to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), around 39,268 individuals have been infected with the pandemic in Afghanistan as of Wednesday.
The ministry says over 1,458 people have died from the infection and so far 32,789 people have recovered from the disease nation-wide.
