TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Three policemen have been killed and four others wounded in a Taliban attack in northern Takhar province.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News militants stormed the check-post Khwaja Bahauddin district on Sunday night.
The overnight assault in Yangi Qala area resulted in the killing of three policemen and injuries to four others, he said, adding the insurgents also took away a tank.
The official claimed the Taliban also suffered casualties. However, he did not give exact casualty figures.
The Taliban, meanwhile, confirmed the attack. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed seven policemen were killed and three others wounded.
According to Mujahid, one tank belonging to the security forces was destroyed and another seized. The attackers also snatched weapons, he concluded.
