KABUL (Pajhwok): Newly-trained police chiefs have been appointed for 100 districts of 29 provinces, the Presidential Palace said on Sunday.
President Ghani addressed the introduction ceremony for the police chiefs on Saturday evening, Ghani’s office said in a statement.
First Vice-President Amrullah Saleh, NSA Hamdullah Mohib and other security officials attended the event.
Mohib said a committee had been constituted in accordance with the president’s directives to evaluate the newly-appointed police officers.
On behalf of the police chiefs, Syed Jalal Sadat thanked Ghani for his trust in them and promised serving the country to the best of their ability.
Mohib and Saleh also addressed the police chiefs and told them to adhere to honesty, good behaviour and coordinate with the people on defeating the enemy.
