Policewoman shot dead in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a policewoman in Kandahar City, the capital of southern Kandahar province, on Sunday, an official said.

The incident happened at around 10:00am in the limits of Kandahar’s ninth Police District, provincial police spokesperson Jamal Nasir said.

He said the policewoman, who served in the central prison, was on her way to work when unknown gunmen attacked her.

The assailants made their escape good, but police have launched a manhunt for them, Nasir said.

Targeted killings have been ongoing in Kandahar province and most of the victims happen to be security personnel, religious scholars and influential people.
