<p>KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a policewoman in Kandahar City, the capital of southern Kandahar province, on Sunday, an official said.</p>
<p>The incident happened at around 10:00am in the limits of Kandahar’s ninth Police District, provincial police spokesperson Jamal Nasir said.</p>
<p>He said the policewoman, who served in the central prison, was on her way to work when unknown gunmen attacked her.</p>
<p>The assailants made their escape good, but police have launched a manhunt for them, Nasir said.</p>
<p>Targeted killings have been ongoing in Kandahar province and most of the victims happen to be security personnel, religious scholars and influential people.</p>
