Afghanistan, Pakistan to enhance trade volume

<p>PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A Peshawar-based Afghan diplomat and representatives of Pakistani businessmen have agreed to boost the bilateral trade volume.</p>

<p><a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a>’s Commercial Attaché Mohammad Fawad Arash and office-bearers of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) also pledged working for strengthening the regional economy.</p>

<p>During a meeting with SCCI office-bearers at the Chamber House, the Afghan envoy discussed issues pertaining to bilateral trade.</p>

<p>A statement from SCCI issued here on Wednesday said the meeting believed the bilateral trade volume between <a href="/en/pakistan" class="glossify-link">Pakistan</a> and Afghanistan could be increased to $5 billion if both sides made concentrated efforts for removal of hurdles.</p>

<p>SCCI President Sherbaz Bilour underlined the need for making joint initiatives to boost the mutual trade volume between the two countries.</p>

<p>He said SCCI had floated concrete proposals in the recently-held Pakistan-Afghanistan Bilateral and Transit Trade Forum.</p>

<p>Bilour urged Islamabad and <a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">Kabul</a> to devise an effective joint mechanism for the business community in consultation with its representatives to boost bilateral and transit trade.</p>
