KABUL (Pajhwok): US defence secretary Mark Esper has been fired by outgoing president Donald Trump.
Trump announced the action in a tweeted, hailing the secretary’s services in his administration.
“I am pleased to announce that Christopher Miller, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously, confirmed by the Senate), will be acting secretary of defense, effective immediately..”
Miller, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, has been appointed acting defense secretary, Trump said.
